Outer Rear Wheel Well Removal - Ar63.10-P-0660-01ME (Model 167.1)

Model 167.1 

IMPORTANT The following operation steps are shown on the left side of the vehicle. In case of damage on the right side of the vehicle, these steps must be performed analogously.

The higher-level service document as well as the safety information in the service document must be observed.

  1. Mark separating point on outer rear wheel well (1) and cut (area A).

    NOTES Do not cut too deeply.

    Otherwise the components behind can be damaged and weakened.

    IMPORTANTDimensions: 

    a = approx. 25 mm

  2. Expose spot welds on lock striker reinforcement (2) and cut out (area B).
  3. Heat lock striker reinforcement (2) in cross-hatched area.

    IMPORTANT Cross-hatched area is bonded.

  4. Remove lock striker reinforcement (2).
  5. Expose spot welds on outer rear wheel well (1) and cut out (area C).

  6. Expose spot welds on outer rear wheel well (1) and cut out (areas D).
  7. Bend open sheet metal lug (arrow).
  8. Remove outer rear wheel well (1).

  9. Sand down mating surfaces to bare metal in cross-hatched areas.

    IMPORTANT Sand down spot weld flanges to bare metal on both sides.

    Observe pretreatment of bonding surface (area E).

  10. Remove grinding dust and drill chips.
  11. Coat insides of spot weld flanges with zinc dust paint.
