The following operation steps are to be performed on model 167.1 on the left side of the vehicle and must be performed analogously on the right side.

The higher-level service document as well as the safety information in the service document must be observed.

1. Install, fit and fix in place A-pillar reinforcement (2) using side portal frame and portal straightener.

   Use spacers.

2. Drill rivet holes on A-pillar reinforcement (2) with a diameter of 6.7 mm through the existing holes in the body (areas A).
3. Drill rivet holes on A-pillar reinforcement (2) with a diameter of 6.7 mm (areas B).
4. Remove portal straightener and A-pillar reinforcement (2).
5. Deburr rivet holes on outer A-pillar reinforcement (2) and body on both sides.
6. Remove drilling chips.
7. Coat with zinc dust paint insides of those riveted joints that will not be bonded.

8. Install foam piece duct (3) with sealing compound.
9. Apply sealing compound to the outside of the foam piece duct (3).
10. Apply sealant to foam part in crosshatched area (area C).
11. Apply 2-component adhesive to body on crosshatched areas (areas D).

    Observe pretreatment of bonding surfaces and manufacturer's specifications for drying and processing time of 2-component adhesive.

12. Install and fix in place A-pillar reinforcement (2) using side portal frame and portal straightener.

    Use spacers.

13. Rivet A-pillar reinforcement (2) with rivets with a diameter of 6.5 x 12.5 (areas E).
14. Rivet A-pillar reinforcement (2) with rivets with a diameter of 6.5 x 14.5 (areas F).
15. A-pillar reinforcement (2) (areas G).
16. A-pillar reinforcement (2) (areas H).
