The following operation steps are shown on the left side of the vehicle. In case of damage on the right side of the vehicle, these steps must be performed analogously.
The higher-level service document as well as the safety information in the service document must be observed.
- Install inner side wall (1) and fit.
- Install rear fender and fit.
- Install seals.
- Install striker eye.
- Check gaps using
feeler gauge and adjust.
- Fix inner side wall (1) in place.
- Remove striker eye.
- Remove gaskets.
- Remove rear fender.
- Inner side wall (1)
(areas A).
- Inner side wall (1)
(areas B).
Inert gas weld in intervals and allow welding area to cool down in between. Reduces heat distortion.
- Surface grind inert gas weld on inner side wall (1) (areas B).
Surface grind only on beaded areas and contact surfaces of the rear fender, C-pillar, and the D-pillar (areas B).
- Bend back sheet metal lug (arrow).

Install reinforcement (2), fit and fix in place.
