The following operation steps are shown on the left side of the vehicle. In case of damage on the right side of the vehicle, these steps must be performed analogously.
The higher-level service document as well as the safety information in the service document must be observed.
- Install inner side wall (1) and fit.
- Install rear fender and fit.
- Install seals.
- Install striker eye.
- Check gaps using
feeler gauge and adjust.
- Fix inner side wall (1) in place.
- Remove striker eye.
- Remove gaskets.
- Remove rear fender.
- Drill rivet holes in inner side wall (1) with Ø 6.7 mm bit (area A).
- Remove inner sidewall (1).
- Deburr rivet holes on inner side wall (1) and body on both sides.
- Remove drilling chips.
- Coat insides of riveted joints with zinc dust paint.
- Install inner side wall (1) and fix in place.
- Rivet inner side wall (1) with rivet Ø 6.4x12 (area B).
- Inner side wall (1)

- Inner side wall (1)
(area D).
Inert gas weld in intervals and allow welding area to cool down in between. Reduces heat distortion.
- Surface-grind inert gas weld on inner side wall (1) (area D).
Only surface-grind at fold areas and contact surfaces of rear fender (area D).
- Bend back sheet metal lug (arrow).
