The following operation steps are shown on the left side of the vehicle. In case of damage on the right side of the vehicle, these steps must be performed analogously.
The higher-level service document as well as the safety information in the service document must be observed.
- Install C-pillar (1), fit, and fix in place.
- Drill rivet holes in C-pillar (1) with Ø 6.7 mm (areas A).
- Remove C-pillar (1).
- Drill rivet holes in C-pillar (1) and deburr on body on both sides.
- Remove drilling chips.
- Coat insides of riveted joints with zinc dust paint.
- Apply sealant to foam part (2) of C-pillar (1) in crosshatched area.
- Install C-pillar (1) and fix in place.
- Rivet C-pillar (1) with rivets Ø 6.4x12 (areas C1 ).
- Rivet C-pillar (1) with rivets Ø 6.5x12.5 (areas C2
, C3
).
Rivet C-pillar (1) from inside (area C3 ).

Perform inert gas welding at intervals and allow to cool down in between. This reduces heat distortion.
- C-pillar (1)
(areas E1 , E2 ).
Surface-grind plug welding (area E2 ).
- Surface-grind inert gas weld on C-pillar (1) (area B).
Grind down flat only on beaded areas and contact areas of rear fender (area B).
- Clean weld joints that are no longer accessible after rear fender is installed, and coat with zinc dust paint.
