The following operation steps are shown on the left side of the vehicle. In case of damage on the right side of the vehicle, these steps must be performed analogously.
The higher-level service document as well as the safety information in the service document must be observed.
- Transfer positions of the existing holes in the body to the wheel well (1) and striker plate (2) with a drill hole finder (areas A, A1).
- Install wheel well (1) and fit.
- Install striker plate (2), fit, and fix in place together with the wheel well (1).
- Drill rivet holes on the wheel well (1) and striker plate (2) with a diameter of 6.7 mm (areas B, C, C1
).
Drill rivet holes from the inside through the existing holes in the body (areas C, C1 ).
- Remove striker plate (2) and wheel well (1).
- Drill rivet holes at the positions on the wheel well (1) and striker plate (2) that were transferred with the drill hole finder with a diameter of 6.7 mm (areas A, A1 ).
- Deburr rivet holes on the wheel well (1), striker plate (2), and on the body on both sides.
- Remove drilling chips.
- Coat insides of the riveted joints with zinc dust paint (areas A1, B, C1).
The bonding surfaces may not be coated with zinc dust paint (areas A, C). Otherwise adhesion problems may occur.
- Apply 2-component adhesive to body in cross-hatched areas.
Observe pretreatment of bonding surfaces and manufacturer's specifications for drying and processing time of 2-component adhesive.
- Install wheel well (1) and striker plate (2), fit, and fix in place.
- Rivet wheel well (1) and striker plate (2) with rivets with a diameter of 6.4 x 12 (area D).
- Rivet wheel well (1) and striker plate (2) with rivets with a diameter of 6.5 x 12.5 (areas E).
- Rivet wheel well (1) and striker plate (2) with rivets with a diameter of 6.5 x 14.5 (areas F).
- Rivet wheel well (1) and striker plate (2) with rivets with a diameter of 6.4 M6 (areas G).
- Wheel well (1) and striker plate (2)
(areas H).
- Striker plate (2)
(area I).
Perform inert gas welding at intervals and allow to cool down in between.
This reduces heat distortion.

- Drill wheel well (1) with a diameter of 8 mm for plug weldings through two panel thicknesses (areas J).
