The following operation steps are shown on the left side of the vehicle. In case of damage on the right side of the vehicle, these steps must be performed analogously.
The higher-level service document as well as the safety information in the service document must be observed.
- Install outer D-pillar (2) and beltline reinforcement (1), fit, and fix in place.
- Drill rivet holes in beltline reinforcement (1) and outer D-pillar (2) with Ø 6.7 mm (areas A 1, B).
Drill rivet holes in outer D-pillar (2) through existing holes in body (area B).

Drill rivet holes in beltline reinforcement (1) with Ø 6.7 mm (area A2 ).
- Remove beltline reinforcement (1) and outer D-pillar (2).
- Deburr rivet holes in beltline reinforcement (1), outer D-pillar (2) and body on both sides.
- Remove drilling chips.
- Coat insides of riveted joints with zinc dust paint.

Apply 2-component adhesive on inside to beltline reinforcement (1) in cross-hatched area.
Observe pretreatment of bonding surfaces and manufacturer's specifications for drying and processing time of 2-component adhesive.

- Install outer D-pillar (2) and beltline reinforcement (1) and fix in place.
- Rivet beltline reinforcement (1) and outer D-pillar (2) with rivets Ø 6.4x12 (areas C1 ).

Rivet beltline reinforcement (1) with rivets Ø 6.4x12 (area C2 ).
- Rivet outer D-pillar (2) from inside with rivet Ø 6.5x12.5 (area D).
- Beltline reinforcement (1)
(areas E).
- Outer D-pillar (2)
(areas F).
- Outer D-pillar (2)
(area G).
Inert gas weld in intervals and allow welding area to cool down in between. Reduces heat distortion.
- Surface-grind inert gas weld at outer D-pillar (2) (area G).
Only surface-grind at contact surfaces of rear fender.
