The following operation steps are shown on the left side of the vehicle. In case of damage on the right side of the vehicle, these steps must be performed analogously.
The higher-level service document as well as the safety information in the service document must be observed.
- Install beltline reinforcement (1) and outer D-pillar (2), fit, and fix in place.
- Drill rivet holes on beltline reinforcement (1) and outer D-pillar (2) with a diameter of 6.7 mm (areas A, B, C).
Drill rivet holes through the existing holes in the new parts (area A).
Drill rivet holes through present rivet holes in body (areas B).
- Drill hole for the plug welding with a diameter of 8.0 mm by two panel thicknesses (area D).
- Remove beltline reinforcement (1) and outer D-pillar (2).
- Deburr rivet holes on beltline reinforcement (1) and outer D-pillar (2) and on body on both sides.
- Remove drilling chips.
- Coat insides of riveted joints with zinc dust paint.
- Install reinforcement beltline (1) and outer D-pillar (2) and fix in place.
- Rivet beltline reinforcement (1) and outer D-pillar (2) with rivets with a diameter of 6.4 x 12 (areas H1 ).
- Rivet beltline reinforcement (1) and outer D-pillar (2) with rivet with a diameter of 6.5 x 12.5 (areas H2 ).
- Beltline reinforcement (1) and outer D-pillar (2)
(areas F).
- Beltline reinforcement (1) and outer D-pillar (2)
(areas G).
- Surface grind plug welds on beltline reinforcement (1) and outer D-pillar (2) (areas G).
- Outer D-pillar (2)
(area E).
Inert gas weld in intervals and allow welding area to cool down in between.
Reduces heat distortion.
- Surface grind inert gas welds on outer D-pillar (2) (area E).
Surface grind only on beaded areas and contact surfaces of the rear fender (area E).
