C-Pillar Installation - Ar63.20-P-0500-03MEC (Model 167.3)

Model 167.3 

IMPORTANT The following operation steps are shown on the left side of the vehicle. In case of damage on the right side of the vehicle, these steps must be performed analogously.

The higher-level service document as well as the safety information in the service document must be observed.

  1. Install C-pillar (1), fit, and fix in place.
  2. Drill rivet holes on the C-pillar (1) with a diameter of 6.7 mm (areas A, B).

    IMPORTANT Drill rivet holes through the existing holes in the C-pillar (1).

  3. Remove C-pillar (1).
  4. Drill rivet holes in C-pillar (1) and deburr on body on both sides.
  5. Remove drilling chips.
  6. Coat insides of riveted joints with zinc dust paint.

  7. Apply sealant to foam part on C-pillar (1) in cross-hatched area.

  8. Install C-pillar (1) and fix in place.
  9. Rivet C-pillar (1) with rivets with a diameter of 6.4 x 12 (area C).
  10. C-pillar (1) POLARIZATION RESISTANCE SINGLE-ROW SPOT WELD (areas D).
  11. C-pillar (1) SHIELDED GAS SEAM WELD (area E).

    IMPORTANT Perform inert gas welding at intervals and allow to cool down in between. This reduces heat distortion.

  12. Surface grind inert gas weld on C-pillar (1) (area E).

    IMPORTANT Surface grind only on the beaded areas and contact surfaces of the rear fender (area E).

  13. Clean weld joints that are no longer accessible after rear fender is installed, and coat with zinc dust paint.
