C-Pillar Installation - Ar63.20-P-0500-03ME (Model 167.1)

Model 167.1 

IMPORTANT The following operation steps are shown on the left side of the vehicle. In case of damage on the right side of the vehicle, these steps must be performed analogously.

The higher-level service document as well as the safety information in the service document must be observed.

  1. Install C-pillar (1), fit, and fix in place.
  2. Drill rivet holes in C-pillar (1) with Ø 6.7 mm (areas A).
  3. Remove C-pillar (1).
  4. Drill rivet holes in C-pillar (1) and deburr on body on both sides.
  5. Remove drilling chips.
  6. Coat insides of riveted joints with zinc dust paint.

  7. Apply sealant to foam part (2) of C-pillar (1) in crosshatched area.

  8. Install C-pillar (1) and fix in place.
  9. Rivet C-pillar (1) with rivets Ø 6.4x12 (areas C1 ).
  10. Rivet C-pillar (1) with rivets Ø 6.5x12.5 (areas C2 , C3 ).

    IMPORTANT Rivet C-pillar (1) from inside (area C3 ).

  11. C-pillar (1) POLARIZATION RESISTANCE SINGLE-ROW SPOT WELD (areas D).
  12. C-pillar (1) SHIELDED GAS SEAM WELD (area B).

    IMPORTANT Perform inert gas welding at intervals and allow to cool down in between. This reduces heat distortion.

  13. C-pillar (1) SHIELDED GAS PLUG WELD (areas E1 , E2 ).

    IMPORTANT Surface-grind plug welding (area E2 ).

  14. Surface-grind inert gas weld on C-pillar (1) (area B).

    IMPORTANT Grind down flat only on beaded areas and contact areas of rear fender (area B).

  15. Clean weld joints that are no longer accessible after rear fender is installed, and coat with zinc dust paint.
