Do not touch coupling medium of rain and light sensor with additional functions (B38/2). The coupling medium must not be soiled. Otherwise it may be damaged and malfunctions may occur.
Preparation
- Clean windshield in area of rain and light sensor with additional functions (B38/2).
The windshield must be free of residue and dry in the area of the rain and light sensor with additional functions (B38/2).
Otherwise, the rain and light sensor with additional functions (B38/2) may be damaged or malfunction.
- Remove transport protection cap of rain and light sensor with additional functions (B38/2).
If a new rain and light sensor with additional functions (B38/2) is installed.
Check
- Check coupling medium of rain and light sensor with additional functions (B38/2).
The coupling medium must have an undamaged, unsoiled area with a diameter of at least 31 mm. There must not be any air pockets greater than 1 mm and there should be no more than 3 air pockets present.
If there is a problem,

Replace rain and light sensor with additional functions (B38/2).
Install
- Position rain and light sensor with additional functions (B38/2) on fastener (1) of windshield and clip in.
The rain and light sensor with additional functions (B38/2) must engage into the fastener (1) audibly twice.
Check
- Check rain and light sensor with additional functions (B38/2) for correct seating.
The retaining clamps must be correctly latched (arrows a) and the conductor track (arrow b) must lay smooth-surfaced on the windshield.
- Check whether there are air pockets between the coupling medium and windshield.
Smaller air pockets are permissible; they usually disappear after 2 h.
If there is a problem,

Remove and reinstall rain and light sensor with additional functions (B38/2).
