Remove/Install Expansion Valve - AR83.30-P-5520MFA

DANGER Risk of fire  due to ignition of R1234yf refrigerant on hot components. Risk of poisoning  caused by inhaling overheated refrigerant vapors. Risk of injury  to skin and eyes caused by contact with escaped R1234yf refrigerant and when working on pressurized parts. Risk of explosion  due to formation of ignitable refrigerant/air mixtures Never perform welding work on or near a closed air conditioning system. No smoking or open flames. Wear safety glasses and protective gloves. Work only in well ventilated rooms. Carry out repair work on the air conditioning system circuit only after the system has been evacuated. WARNING Risk of injury  caused by fingers being jammed or pinched when removing, installing or aligning hoods, doors, trunk lid/rear-end door or sliding roof. No parts of the body or limbs should be within the operating area when the components are moving. AS00.00-Z-0011-01A
WARNING Risk of poisoning  caused by inhaling overheated refrigerant vapors from an air conditioning system containing R134a. Risk of injury  to skin and eyes caused by contact with liquid R134a refrigerant and when working on pressurized parts Never perform welding work on or near a closed air conditioning system. REMOVINGINSTALLING Remove/install     
1 Discharge air conditioning system. Model 118, 177, 247 with engine 260, 282, 608, 654Model 118, 177, 247.7 with engine 139
Model 243 with engine 780

2 Remove on-board electrical system battery. Model 118, 177, 247 with code B01 (48V technology) AR54.10-P-1134MFI
    Model 118, 177, 247 except code B01 (48V technology) AR54.10-P-0005MFA
    Model 243 AR54.10-P-0005EQA
3 Remove heat shield (1) from firewall. Model 118, 177, 247 with engine 654 AR49.10-P-0001MFF
    Model 118, 177, 247 with engine 608 AR49.10-P-0001MFE
    Model 118, 177, 247 with engine 282 AR49.10-P-0001MFD
    Model 118, 177, 247 with engine 260 AR49.10-P-0001MFC

4 Remove nut (2) on firewall from auxiliary heating valve holder (3). Model 118, 177, 247 with code 228 (Additional warm water
heating)
 
5 Remove auxiliary heating valve holder (3) with auxiliary heating valve and place to one side. Model 118, 177, 247 with code 228 (Additional warm water
heating)
 
6 Remove nut (4) of refrigerant lines (5, 6). TORQUE SPECIFICATION Nut, refrigerant line to expansion valve *BA83.30-P-1001-01T 
7 Remove refrigerant lines (5, 6) and seal exposed openings with suitable stop plugs.    
REFER TO CAPACITIES & SPECIFICATIONS   INSTALLATION IMPORTANT : Replace sealing rings and moisten with compressor oil. BB00.40-P-0362-01A
    SPECIAL TOOL Record plug Fig 2
8 Remove screws (7). TORQUE SPECIFICATION Bolt, expansion valve to retaining plate *BA83.30-P-1009-01T 
9 Remove expansion valve (8) and seal exposed openings using suitable stop plugs    
REFER TO CAPACITIES & SPECIFICATIONS   INSTALLATION IMPORTANT : Replace sealing rings and moisten with compressor oil. BB00.40-P-0362-01A
    SPECIAL TOOL Record plug Fig 2
10 Install in the reverse order.    
INSPECT Check     
WARNING Risk of accident  from vehicle starting off by itself when engine running. Risk of injury  (bruises and burns) resulting from working on the engine while it is being started or when it is running. Secure vehicle to prevent it from starting off by itself. Wear closed and snug-fitting work clothes. Do not touch hot or rotating parts. AS00.00-Z-0005-01A
11 Perform engine test run, check air conditioning system for proper operation and leak tightness.   AR83.30-P-1760MFA
