Remove/Install Retaining Lock For Crankshaft/Ring Gear - AR03.30-P-5000MFC

Engine 260 in model 118, 177, 247

CAUTION Risk of injury  caused by scraping or cutting body parts on sharp vehicle parts Always wear protective gloves when working on or near sharp and non-deburred vehicle parts.
Deburr repair panels.

  Install/remove     
1 Remove air filter housing.   AR09.10-P-1150MFC
2 Remove battery carrier.   AR54.10-P-0028MFA
3.1 Remove starter. If retaining lock should be installed in installed transmission.
Engine 260 in model 118, 177, 247 except code B01 (48V technology)

3.2 Remove cover over starter opening. Engine 260 in model 118, 177, 247 with code B01 (48V technology)
If retaining lock should be installed in installed transmission.
TORQUE SPECIFICATION Bolt, starter to crankcase/transmission
*BA15.30-P-1003-01J 
3.3 Remove transmission. If retaining lock should be installed in removed transmission.  
    Engine 260 in model 118, 177, 247 with transmission 724.1 AR01.10-P-2401MFJ
    Engine 260 in model 118, 177, 247 with transmission 724.0 AR01.10-P-2401MFC
4.1 Rotate the engine at the center bolt of the crankshaft in the direction of engine rotation and check the toothing of the starter ring gear (1) for wear or damage. With installed transmission.

    If there are problems:

Replace drive plate.

4.2 Check the starter ring gear (1) for wear or damage. With removed transmission.
If there are problems:

Replace drive plate.

    Engine 260 in model 118, 177, 247 with transmission 724.1 AR03.30-P-8001MFI 
5.1 Insert retaining lock (01) in starter opening until it engages with the starter ring gear (1). With installed transmission.
SPECIAL TOOL Retaining lock

5.2 Install the retaining lock (02) on the crankcase. With removed transmission.

6 Removal in the reverse order.
