| 1 | Remove center and front engine compartment lining | AR61.20-P-1105FR | |
| 2 | Remove left or right front wheel | AR40.10-P-1102A | |
| 3 | Unscrew nut (2) from strut rod (1) | The ball head must be counterheld and an impact wrench/driver must not be used. Otherwise the ball head or steering knuckle (4) becomes damaged. |

| 4.1 | Turn steering completely to the right | When removing the left strut rod (1). | |
| 4.2 | Turn steering completely to the left | When removing the right strut rod (1). | |
| 5 | Remove strut rod (1) from steering knuckle (4) | ||
| 6 | Unscrew nut (3), remove bolt (7) and remove strut rod (1) from front axle carrier (5) | ||

| 7 | Check seal bellows and ball head of strut rod (1) for damage | If damage is present ↓ Replace strut rod (1). |

| 8.1 | Check whether an elastomer bearing is installed in the previously installed strut rod (1) for caster correction. | When replacing the strut rod (1). ↓ If an elastomer bearing for caster correction is installed. ↓ Remove elastomer bearing of new strut rod (1) and install a corresponding elastomer bearing for caster correction. |

The elastomer bearing for caster correction has an off-center bearing core. In the event of damage, if a neutral (genuine) elastomer bearing is installed. ↓ Replace strut rod (1). In the event of damage, if an elastomer bearing is installed for caster correction. ↓ Replace elastomer bearing of strut rod (1) according to the previous variant. |
