Remove/Install Front Axle Brake Caliper - AR42.10-P-0070FRA

Model 257 (except 257.361) 

4-piston fixed-caliper brake 

Shown on Advics 4-piston fixed-caliper brake, on left side of vehicle

DANGER Risk of accident  when commissioning the vehicle due to a lack of braking effect when the service Brake is operated for the first time after repair work. Before starting the engine, actuate Brake pedal several times until pressure is built up and maintained in the Brake system. AS42.50-Z-0002-01A 
CAUTION Risk of poisoning  from swallowing Brake fluid. Risk of injury  from skin and eye contact with Brake fluid Only pour Brake fluid into suitable and appropriately marked containers. Wear protective clothing and eye protection when handling Brake fluid. AS42.50-Z-0001-01A

REMOVINGINSTALLING Remove/install     
1 Remove brakepads (2).   AR42.10-P-1610FRA 
2 Remove electrical connector of front right brakepad wear sensor from Brake caliper (1). When removing Brake caliper (1) on right side of vehicle.  
    TORQUE SPECIFICATION Bolt, Brake wear sensor to Brake caliper *BA42.10-P-1002-10X 
3 Remove Brake hose (4).   AR42.10-P-0026FR 
    INSTALLATION IMPORTANT Bleed Brake system only after installing brakepads (2).  
4 Unscrew bolts (3). TORQUE SPECIFICATION Bolt, Brake caliper/ Brake caliper support to steering knuckle * BA42.10-P-1001-10X 
5 Remove Brake caliper (1).    
INSPECT Check     
6 Check Brake caliper (1) and dust boots of Brake pistons for leak tightness and damage. In the event of a problem,

Replace Brake caliper (1).
INSTALLATION NOTES
The new Brake caliper (1) is shipped in prefilled condition and it may not be drained. Otherwise the Brake caliper (1) cannot be vented.
 
7 Check Brake disk for wear and condition.   AR42.10-P-0120FR 
    In the event of a problem,

Replace Brake disks.
 
      AR42.10-P-0220FR 
8 Install in the reverse order    
9 Bleed Brake system.   AR42.10-P-0010FR 
10 Operate Brake pedal several times until the brakepads (2) make contact with the Brake disks. IMPORTANT Firm resistance should be noticeable at the Brake pedal.  
INSPECT Check     
11 Check and correct Brake fluid level in Brake fluid expansion reservoir.    
REFER TO MAINTENANCE     AP42.10-P-4210B
12 Perform Brake test on test stand.    
REFER TO MAINTENANCE     AP42.00-P-4290BA
