- Mark separating points on A-pillar reinforcement (1) and cut (areas A and B).
Do not make the cuts too deep.
Otherwise the components below can be damaged and weakened.
Dimensions:
a = approx. 100 mm
b approx. 60 mm
- Expose spot welds at A-pillar reinforcement (1) and cut off (areas C1
, C2
, C3
).
Joint spot welds on panels that are one behind the other must be cut out through two panel thicknesses.
- Expose spot welds at A-pillar reinforcement (1) and cut off (areas D1
, D2
).
- Expose spot welds at A-pillar reinforcement (1) and cut off (area E).
- Heat A-pillar reinforcement (1) in cross-hatched areas (areas F1
, F2
, F3
).
Cross-hatched areas are bonded with adhesive.
- Remove A-pillar reinforcement (1).
- Mark separating points at A-pillar inner section (2) and cut (areas J and I).
Do not make the cuts too deep.
Otherwise the components below can be damaged and weakened.
Dimensions:
j = approx. 60 mm
i = approx. 60 mm
- Expose spot welds at A-pillar inner section (2) and cut off (areas K1
, K2
, K3
, K4
, K5
).
- Heat A-pillar inner section (2) in cross-hatched areas (areas L1
, L2
).
Cross-hatched areas are bonded with adhesive.
- Remove A-pillar inner section (2).
- Grind mating surfaces down to bare metal in cross-hatched areas.
Sand down spot weld flanges to bare metal on both sides.
