The next steps are shown on the left side of the vehicle. This must be similarly performed for damage to the right side of the vehicle.
The superordinate service document as well as the safety information in the service document must be observed.
- Mark separating points on inner B-pillar (1) (area H).
In this connection, observe dimension (b).
- Cut separating points at inner B-pillar (1) (area H).
Do not cut too deeply.
Otherwise the components below can be damaged and weakened.
- Mark separating points on inner B-pillar (1) (areas E, D).
Observe dimensions (a) here.
- Cut separating points at inner B-pillar (1) (areas E, D).
Do not make the cuts too deep.
Otherwise the components below can be damaged and weakened.
- Expose lower spot welds at inner B-pillar (1) (area C).
- Cut off lower spot welds at inner B-pillar (1) (area C).
- Expose upper spot welds at inner B-pillar (1) (areas F, G).
- Cut off upper spot welds at inner B-pillar (1) (areas F, G).
- Drill through spot welds at inner B-pillar (1) with Ø 6.5 mm (areas A, B).
- Expose spot welds at B-pillar reinforcement (2) (areas I, J).
- Cut off spot welds at B-pillar reinforcement (2) (areas I, J).
- Remove B-pillar reinforcement (2).
- Heat inner B-pillar (1) in cross-hatched areas (areas K).
- Remove inner B-pillar (1).
- Grind mating surfaces down to bare metal in cross-hatched areas.
Grind spot weld flanges down to bare metal on both sides.
- Remove grinding dust and drill chips.
- Apply zinc dust paint to insides of spot weld flanges.
Do not coat bonding surfaces with zinc dust paint (area L).
Otherwise, adhesion problems will occur.
Observe pretreatment of bonding surfaces.
