Check Battery - Ar54.10-D-1129-01TS

Risk of fire  /risk of explosion due to short circuit and escaping oxyhydrogen gas. Risk of (burn) injury caused by caustic burns to eyes, skin and mucous membranes from battery electrolyte/mist, short circuit and arcing. Risk of poisoning  caused by swallowing battery electrolyte or absorption of lead through the skin or body orifices. Risk of death  due to voltage U >= 30 V AC and U >= 60 V DC. No fires, sparks, open flames, or smoking. Wear acid-resistant gloves, clothing, and glasses. Pour battery acid only into suitable and appropriately marked containers. AS54.10-Z-0001-01A

NOTES All test steps and entries must be conducted painstakingly.

Otherwise the test result may be incorrect.

IMPORTANT Whenever possible, perform the tests with the battery still installed and connected.

  1. Switch off ignition and store transmitter key outside of transmission range (min. 2 m).
  2. Switch off interior and exterior lights.
  3. Switch off audio component (e.g. radio).
  4. Connect battery tester to battery.

NOTES Do not connect battery tester to jump start or charging terminal point when the battery is installed; always connect it directly to the battery. Otherwise the test result may be incorrect.

NOTES Check that the battery test device is securely connected to the battery.

Otherwise the test result may be incorrect.

IMPORTANT Once the battery tester has been connected the currently measured battery voltage is displayed.

If during the test procedure the battery test device detects so-called "system noise",

check whether all consumers are switched off and wait approx. 2 min until the quiescent current is minimized and the bus systems are shut down.

    1. If, with battery installed, the "Surface voltage" message is shown during the test.

Reduce increased voltage as per battery test device specifications (e.g. switch on driving lights).

    2. If, with battery removed, the "Surface voltage" message is shown during the test.

Reduce increased voltage using load tester: Load battery for approx. 60 s with 20 A to 30 A.

  5. Conduct test procedure according to battery test device menu navigation.
  6. After the test print out the test code displayed and store it safely in a tamperproof manner.
