Check Brake System For Leaks - Ar42.10-D-0100-01TS

WARNING Risk of accident  from vehicle starting off by itself when engine running. Risk of injury  (bruises and burns) resulting from working on the engine while it is being started or when it is running. Secure vehicle to prevent it from starting off by itself. Wear closed and snug-fitting work clothes. Do not touch hot or rotating parts. AS00.00-Z-0005-01A
CAUTION Risk of poisoning  from swallowing brake fluid. Risk of injury  from skin and eye contact with brake fluid Only pour brake fluid into suitable and appropriately marked containers. Wear protective clothing and eye protection when handling brake fluid. AS42.50-Z-0001-01A

Model 907 

  1. Adjust gap.

    After working on the brake system.

    IMPORTANT To do this, depress the brake pedal firmly several times.

  2. Depress brake pedal firmly and hold down with a constant force.

    IMPORTANT The pressure must be maintained without it being possible to depress the brake pedal further.

    If the brake pedal drops under constant pressure.

    Establish the cause for pressure loss and replace defective components of the brake system.

  3. Start engine and run at idle speed.
  4. Depress brake pedal firmly and hold down with a constant force.

    IMPORTANT The high boost provided by the brake booster with the engine running causes the brake pedal to slowly yield further after a brief period.

    This is design related and it does not mean that the brake system has a pressure loss.

  5. Check whether the pressure built up in the brake system drops.

    If the brake pedal drops under constant pressure.

    Check all hydraulic hose connections, all connection fittings and all hydraulic components of the brake system for leaks.

    In the event of leakage

    Repair or replace affected hose connections, connection fittings or hydraulic components.

    If no leakage can be found.

    Establish the cause for internal pressure loss and replace defective components of the brake system.

  6. Switch off engine.
