- Release adjustment screw (1) by several turns until the brake adjuster no longer touches the brake shoes.
When being checked the brake adjuster may no longer make contact with the brake shoes.
- Check for ease of movement of the brake adjuster

When turning the adjustment screw (1) the specified friction torque must not be exceeded.
If the friction torque value is larger than specified,

restore movability of the brake adjuster or replace it.
- Tighten adjustment screw (1)
- Release adjustment screw (1) by two notches (approx. 2/3 turns).
- Check for freedom of movement between the affected rear wheel.
Freedom of movement for the affected rear wheel must be given Otherwise, the brake system will suffer from overheating.
If rear wheel does not move freely,

Release adjustment screw (1) a further notch (approx 1/3 turn) and check again for freedom of movement of the rear wheel.
