Decision-making aid when checking corroded component parts 

• Surface corrosion 

  Blistering/corrosion of the brake line coating, without pits/material loss in the base material. Brake lines that exhibit surface corrosion and where there is no corrosion penetration/pits or structural damage to the base material must be cleaned and then preservation agent applied to the brake lines subject to a separate repair order in accordance with the corresponding country-specific regulations for mobility and body shell complaints and after consultation with the customer with regard to any costs that may be incurred.

• Advanced corrosion 

  Corrosion with pits/material loss in the base material. Brake lines that exhibit advanced corrosion with corrosion penetration/pits or structural damage to the base material must be partially or completely replaced subject to a separate repair order in accordance with the corresponding country-specific regulations for mobility and body shell complaints and after consultation with the customer with regard to any costs may be incurred.
