A. Vehicles with ASSYST maintenance monitor
The ASSYST maintenance computer determines the ideal maintenance time and shows this information in the instrument cluster's display. The remaining distance (in km/mi) or the remaining driving time in days is shown depending on which is reached first. Additional operations for the maintenance service or time-dependent maintenance services are not shown on the instrument cluster display. Perform these operations additionally or separately at the appropriate point in time.
Reset ASSYST maintenance computer after completing maintenance operations.

Mercedes-Benz recommends the respective lowest viscosity class for the lowest possible fuel consumption!
The maintenance intervals for engines 642, 651 and 654 are set to 2 years.
In certain countries, the maintenance interval can also be reduced to 1 year.
This is then managed via code J1W (1 year maintenance interval).
B. Maintenance notes
The maintenance scope is available in the currently valid service sheet and the maintenance content of the individual maintenance item in the maintenance descriptions in the Workshop Information System (WIS).
The additional operations at the maintenance service and the time-dependent maintenance operation are summarized at the end of the service sheet. Coordinate these with the customer and tick on the first page in the head section:
Document completion of the individual maintenance items on the service sheet by making a cross in the boxes above the operation titles.
Mark the boxes below the operation titles with crosses to identify items which were not OK when the vehicle was received. The person carrying out the work provides confirmation of this by a signature in the top part of the service sheet.
It is not necessary to check the fluid levels of the major assemblies (transmission, transfer case, front axle, rear axle). Perform visual inspection of the major assemblies for oil leakage.
If any leaks are present, determine and rectify the cause subject to separate repair order.
C. Maintenance documentation
- For vehicles with a maintenance booklet, confirm the completion of maintenance on the confirmation pages and, if applicable, the completion of additional operations.
- For vehicles with a Digital Service Booklet (DSB), confirm completion in the DSB and print out a service report for the customer.
