REMOVINGINSTALLING Remove/install     
1 Remove bolt of front axle shaft Model 217
Model 222 with code M005 (Vehicles with 4MATIC/all-wheel drive) except code Z07 (B7 armoring on special protection version)		  
    TORQUE SPECIFICATION Screw/bolt, front axle shaft to wheel hub *BA33.30-P-1001-02H 
2 Remove brake disk   AR42.10-P-0220LF
3 Remove brake cover plate (1)    
4 Unhook electrical line (2) of the brake pad wear sensor from the cable duct (3) at the front When removing the right steering knuckle (4)  
5.1 Detach rpm sensor and unhook electrical line (5) from cable duct (3) Model 222 except code M005 (Vehicles with 4MATIC/all-wheel drive) except code Z07 (B7 armoring on special protection version) AR42.30-P-0712LF
5.2 Detach rpm sensor and unclip cable duct (11) and place to one side Model 217

6 Detach cable duct (3) at steering knuckle (4) Model 222 except code M005 (Vehicles with 4MATIC/all-wheel drive) except code Z07 (B7 armoring on special protection version)  
7 Remove tie rod (6) at steering knuckle (4) NOTES The ball head must be counterheld and a impact wrench/driver must not be used. Otherwise the ball head or steering knuckle (4) may be damaged.  
    TORQUE SPECIFICATION Nut, tie rod to steering knuckle *BA46.40-P-1001-01M 
8 Unscrew nut (7) of the strut rod at steering knuckle (4) NOTES The ball head must be counterheld and a impact wrench/driver must not be used. Otherwise the ball head or steering knuckle (4) may be damaged.  
    TORQUE SPECIFICATION Nut, strut rod to steering knuckle *BA33.20-P-1003-01T 
9 Unscrew nut (8) of the spring control arm at steering knuckle (4) NOTES The ball head must be counterheld and a impact wrench/driver must not be used. Otherwise the ball head or steering knuckle (4) may be damaged.  
    TORQUE SPECIFICATION Nut, spring control arm to steering knuckle *BA33.20-P-1001-01T 
10 Detach upper transverse control arm (9) at steering knuckle (4) TORQUE SPECIFICATION Nut, steering knuckle to transverse control arm *BA33.20-P-1006-01T 
11 Detach stabilizer bar torsion bar linkage (10) from steering knuckle (4) Model 217 except code 487 (Active Body Control (ABC))
Model 222 except code 487 (Active Body Control (ABC)) except code Z07 (B7 armoring on special protection version)		  
    TORQUE SPECIFICATION Nut, link rod to steering knuckle Nut, torsion bar linkage to steering knuckle *BA32.20-P-1002-02O 
12 Remove steering knuckle (4)    
13 Detach wheel bearing When replacing steering knuckle (4) AR33.20-P-0302LF 
14 Install in the reverse order
