Remove C-Pillar - Ar63.20-P-0500-01LC

The following steps are shown on the left side of the vehicle and must be accomplished analogously on the right side in the event of damage.
- Remove foam pieces (area A).
- Mark separating point on C-pillar (1) and cut (area A).
Do not cut too deeply.
Otherwise the components below can be damaged and weakened.
Dimensions:
a = approx. 75 mm
b = approx. 115 mm
- Expose spot welds on C-pillar (1) and cut out (areas B and B1
).
Cut out spot welds through two panel thicknesses (areas B1 ).
- Expose spot welds on C-pillar (1) and drill out with Ø 6.5 mm bit (area C).
- Expose clinch connections on C-pillar (1) and drill with Ø 6 mm bit (areas D1
and D3
).
The clinch connections can also be cut with a riveter for self-piercing and flow-form rivets (area D1 ).
- Expose spot welds on C-pillar (1) and drill out with Ø 6.5 mm bit (area D2
).
- Heat C-pillar (1) in crosshatched areas.
Cross-hatched areas are bonded.
- Remove C-pillar (1).
- Mark separating point on C-pillar reinforcement (2) and cut (area F).
Do not cut too deeply.
Otherwise the components below can be damaged and weakened.
Dimensions:
c = approx. 175 mm
d = approx. 70 mm
- Expose spot welds on C-pillar reinforcement (2) and cut out (areas E).
- Remove C-pillar reinforcement (2).
- Grind mating surfaces down to bare metal in the cross-hatched inner C-pillar sidewall.
Sand down spot weld flanges to bare metal on both sides.
- Remove grinding dust and drill chips.
- Coat insides of spot weld flanges with zinc dust paint.
Do not coat bonding surfaces with zinc dust paint (areas G).
Otherwise adhesion problems may occur.
- Observe pretreatment of bonding surfaces.
