- Expose spot welds on B-pillar (1) and longitudinal member (2) and cut out with drill bit for high-strength steels (areas B and C).
Cut out spot welds through two panel thicknesses (areas C).
- Mark separating point on longitudinal member (2) and cut (area A).
Do not cut too deeply.
Otherwise the components below can be damaged and weakened.
Dimensions:
a = approx. 890 mm
- Separate MIG solder seams on longitudinal member (2) (area D).
- Expose spot welds on longitudinal member (2) and cut out (areas E and F).
Cut out spot weld through two panel thicknesses (area F).
- Separate MIG solder seams on longitudinal member (areas G).

- Separate MIG solder seams on reinforcement (3) (areas H1 ).
- Remove reinforcement (3).
- Separate MIG solder seams on B-pillar (1) (area H2
).

- Heat crosshatched areas.
Cross-hatched areas are bonded.
- Remove B-pillar (1).
- Grind mating surfaces down to bare metal in the cross-hatched inner C-pillar sidewall.
Sand down spot weld flanges to bare metal on both sides.
- Remove shavings using wet/dry vacuum cleaner.
- Coat insides of spot weld flanges with zinc dust paint.
Do not coat bonding surfacers with zinc dust paint (area I).
Otherwise adhesion problems may occur.
Observe pretreatment of bonding surfaces.
