Install Rear Longitudinal Member Section - Ar64.20-P-1260-03LCA

The following steps are shown on the left side of the vehicle and must be performed analogously on the right side in the event of damage.
- Install longitudinal member (1) and mounting console (2) and fit.
- Fix longitudinal member (1) and mounting console (2) in place.
- Drill Ø 6.7 mm rivet holes on longitudinal member and mounting console (1) (areas A1
and A2
).
Drill rivet holes from bottom through present holes (area A1 and A2 ).
- Drill Ø 6.7 mm rivet holes on mounting console (2) (area A3 ).
- Remove longitudinal member (1) and mounting console (2).
- Deburr rivet holes on longitudinal member (1) and mounting console (2) on both sides.
- Remove drilling chips.
- Apply 2-component adhesive to body and mounting console (2) in crosshatched areas.
Observe pretreatment of bonding surfaces. Observe manufacturer's specifications for drying and processing time of adhesive.
- Install longitudinal member (1) and mounting console (2), fit and fix in place.
- Rivet longitudinal member (1) with Ø 6.4x12 blind rivets (area G2 ).
- Rivet mounting console (2) with Ø 6.4x14 blind rivets (area B2
).
- Rivet mounting console (2) with Ø 6.4x14 blind rivets (area B3
).
Flow-form rivets with a clamping range of up to 3.5 mm A1 can also be used, if a riveter for self-piercing and flow-form rivets is used for installation (area B3 ).
- Longitudinal member (1)
(areas C1 , C2 , C3 and C4 ).
Inert gas weld in intervals and allow to cool down in between. Reduces heat distortion.
- Longitudinal member (1)
(areas C5 and C6 ).
Inert gas weld in intervals and allow to cool down in between. Reduces heat distortion.
- Mounting console (2)
(areas D1 and D2 ).
Inert gas weld in intervals and allow to cool down in between. Reduces heat distortion.
- Mounting console (2)
(areas D3 and D4 ).
Inert gas weld in intervals and allow to cool down in between. Reduces heat distortion.
- Clean weld joints and sheet metal flange.
