The following steps are shown on the left side of the vehicle and must be performed analogously on the right side in the event of damage.
- Expose rivets on longitudinal member (1) and mounting console (2) and drill with Ø 6 mm bit (area A1 and A2 ).
- Heat bonded areas (areas A1 and A2 ).
- Remove rear floor panel from longitudinal member (1) and mounting console.
- Drill clinch connections on mounting console (2) with Ø 6 mm bit (area B1).
The clinch connections can also be separated with a riveter for self-piercing and flow-form rivets.
- Expose self-piercing riveting on mounting console (2) and drill with Ø 6 mm bit (area B2
).
- Expose weld seams on mounting console (2) and separate (areas C1
and C2
).
Do not make the cuts too deep.
Otherwise the components below can be damaged and weakened.
Position separating points along welds.
- Expose weld seams on mounting console (2) and separate (areas C3
and C4
).
Do not make the cuts too deep.
Otherwise the components below can be damaged and weakened.
Position separating points along welds.
- Heat mounting console (2) in crosshatched area.
Cross-hatched area is bonded.
- Remove mounting console (2).
- Expose weld seams on longitudinal member (1) and separate (areas D1
, D2
, D3
and D4
).
Do not make the cuts too deep.
Otherwise the components below can be damaged and weakened.
Position separating points along welds.
- Expose weld seams on longitudinal member (1) and separate (areas D5
and D6
).
Do not make the cuts too deep.
Otherwise the components below can be damaged and weakened.
Position separating points along welds.
- Grind weld seams down flat.
- Grind mating surfaces down to bare metal in crosshatched area.
Observe pretreatment of bonding surfaces.
- Remove grinding dust.
