Cut Off A-Pillar - Ar63.20-P-1100-01LC

The following steps are shown on the left side of the vehicle and must be accomplished analogously on the right side in the event of damage.
- Mark separating points on A-pillar paneling (1) and cut (areas C1
and C 2
).
Do not make the cuts too deep.
Otherwise the components below can be damaged and weakened.
Transfer separating points from replacement part.
- Expose MIG soler seam on A-pillar paneling (1) and cut (area D).
- Expose spot welds on A-pillar paneling (1) and cut out (areas A, B1
, B 2
and B3
).
- Heat A-pillar paneling (1) in crosshatched areas.
Cross-hatched areas are bonded.
- Remove A-pillar paneling (1).
- Expose spot welds on roof frame reinforcement (2) and cut out (area E).
- Heat roof frame reinforcement (2) in crosshatched area.
Cross-hatched area is bonded.
- Remove roof frame reinforcement (2).
- Drill out blind rivet on A-pillar reinforcement (3) (area I1
).
- Mark separating point on A-pillar reinforcement (3) and cut (area H1
).
Do not cut too deeply.
Otherwise the components below can be damaged and weakened.
Dimensions:
a = approx. 10 mm
- Expose MIG solder seams on A-pillar reinforcement (3) and cut (areas F and H2 ).
- Expose spot welds on A-pillar reinforcement (3) and cut out (areas G1
, G2
, G 3
, G4
and G5
).
- Heat A-pillar reinforcement (3) and A-pillar inner panel (4) in crosshatched areas.
Cross-hatched areas are bonded.
- Remove A-pillar reinforcement (3).
- Mark separating point on offset reinforcement and cut (area J3
).
Do not cut too deeply.
Otherwise the components below can be damaged and weakened.
Dimensions:
c = approx. 60 mm
- Mark separating points on A-pillar inner panel (4) and cut (areas J1
and J2
).
Do not make the cuts too deep.
Otherwise the components below can be damaged and weakened.
Dimensions:
b = approx. 60 mm
d = approx. 120 mm
- Expose spot welds on A-pillar inner panel (4) and cut out (areas K1
, K2
and K3
).
Cut out weld spots through two sheet metal thicknesses (area K3 ).
- Heat A-pillar inner panel (4) in crosshatched areas.
Cross-hatched areas are bonded.
- Remove A-pillar inner panel (4).
- Grind mating surfaces down to bare metal in the cross-hatched inner C-pillar sidewall.
Sand down spot weld flanges to bare metal on both sides.
- Remove grinding dust and drill chips.
- Coat insides of spot weld flanges with zinc dust paint.
Do not coat bonding surfaces with zinc dust paint (areas M1, M2, M3 and M4). Otherwise adhesion problems may occur.
Observe pretreatment of bonding surfaces.
