Prepare Firewall Half For Installation - Ar62.25-P-1110-02LF

except code Z07 (B7 armoring on special protection version) 

IMPORTANT The following steps are shown on the left side of the vehicle and must be accomplished analogously on the right side in the event of damage.

  1. Mark separating points on firewall (1) and cut (areas A and B).

    IMPORTANT Take separation points from vehicle.

  2. Cut out spot welds on firewall (1) (areas C and D).

    IMPORTANT Cut out spot weld through two panel thicknesses (area D).

  3. Bend up sheet metal flange in direction of arrow.

    IMPORTANT It is necessary to bend up the sheet metal flange to install firewall (1).

  4. Remove sections from firewall (1).
  5. Grind mating surfaces on firewall (1) down to bare metal in crosshatched areas.

    IMPORTANT Sand down spot weld flanges to bare metal on both sides.

  6. Remove grinding dust and drill chips.

    IMPORTANT Observe pretreatment of bonding surfaces (areas E).

  7. Grind mating surfaces on firewall (1) down to bare metal in crosshatched areas.
  8. Remove grinding dust and drill chips.

    IMPORTANT Observe pretreatment of bonding surfaces (areas F).

  9. Mark separating points on firewall crossmember (3) and cut (areas G).

    IMPORTANT Take separation points from vehicle.

  10. Drill Ø 6.5 mm spot welds in firewall crossmember (3) (area H).

  11. Heat firewall crossmember (3) in crosshatched areas.

    IMPORTANT Cross-hatched areas are bonded.

  12. Remove section from firewall crossmember (3).
  13. Grind mating surfaces on firewall crossmember section (5) down to bare metal in crosshatched areas.
  14. Remove grinding dust and drill chips.

    IMPORTANT Observe pretreatment of bonding surfaces (areas I).

  15. Mark separating point on firewall crossmember (3) and cut (area J).

    IMPORTANT Take separation points from vehicle.

  16. Drill Ø 6.5 mm spot welds in firewall crossmember (3) (area K).
  17. Remove section from firewall crossmember (3).
  18. Grind mating surfaces on crossmember on firewall (3) down to bare metal in crosshatched areas.
  19. Remove grinding dust and drill chips.

    IMPORTANT Observe pretreatment of bonding surfaces (areas L).

  20. Grind mating surfaces on crossmember on firewall (3) down to bare metal in crosshatched areas.
  21. Remove grinding dust and drill chips.

    IMPORTANT Observe pretreatment of bonding surfaces.

  22. Mark separating point on windshield crossmember (2) and cut (area M).

    IMPORTANT Transfer separation point from vehicle.

  23. Grind windshield crossmember (2) down to bare metal in crosshatched areas.

  24. Grind mating surfaces on windshield crossmember (2) down to bare metal in crosshatched areas.

    IMPORTANT Observe pretreatment of bonding surfaces.

  25. Remove grinding dust and drill chips.
