Partially Install Upper Front Longitudinal Member - Ar62.20-P-1287-03LF

MODEL 217, 222 

IMPORTANT The following steps are shown on the left side of the vehicle and must be accomplished analogously on the right side in the event of damage.

  1. Install upper front longitudinal member (1), fit and fix in place.
  2. Drill Ø 6.7 mm rivet holes in upper front longitudinal member (1) (areas A and B1 ).

    IMPORTANT Transfer position of present holes in body to new part (area B1 ).

  3. Drill Ø 6.7 mm rivet holes in upper front longitudinal member (1) (area B2 ).

    IMPORTANT Counter sink rivet hole to obtain a flat surface to allow fender to be adjusted later, if required.

    IMPORTANT Transfer position of present rivet hole in body to new part.

  4. Drill Ø 6.7 mm rivet holes in upper front longitudinal member (1) (area A1 ).

    Only if a riveter for punch and flow form rivets is used for installation.

  5. Drill Ø 6.7 mm rivet holes in upper front longitudinal member (1).
  6. Remove upper front longitudinal member (1).
  7. Deburr drill holes on upper front longitudinal member (1) and body on both sides.
  8. Remove drilling chips.

  9. Apply 2-component adhesive to body in crosshatched areas.

    IMPORTANT Apply 2-component adhesive to inside (area C).

  10. Install upper front longitudinal member (1) and fix in place.
  11. Rivet upper front longitudinal member (1) with Ø 6.4x14 countersunk head rivet (areas E1 ).
  12. Rivet upper front longitudinal member (1) with Ø 6.5x14.5 rivets (areas E).
  13. Rivet upper front longitudinal member (1) with Ø 6.5x12.5 rivets (areas D).

  14. Rivet upper front longitudinal member (1) with Ø 6.5x14.5 rivets (area G).
  15. Rivet upper front longitudinal member (1) with Ø 6.5x12.5 rivet (area F).

    IMPORTANT Flow form rivets with a clamping range of 3.35 mm to 4.1 "S2" can be used, if a riveter for punching and flow form rivets is used for installation.

  16. Install strut (2), fit and fix in place.
  17. Drill Ø 6.7 mm rivet holes in strut (2) (area H1 ).

    Only if riveter for punch and flow form rivets is used for installation.

    IMPORTANT Drill rivet holes from rear through present rivet holes in body.

  18. Drill Ø 6.7 mm rivet holes in strut (2) (areas H3 ).
  19. Remove strut (2).
  20. Drill rivet holes in strut (2) and deburr on body on both sides.
  21. Remove drilling chips.

  22. Apply 2-component adhesive to body in crosshatched areas.

    IMPORTANT Observe pretreatment of bonding surfaces. Observe manufacturer's specifications for drying and processing time of adhesive.

  23. Install strut (2) and fix in place.
  24. Rivet strut (2) with Ø 6.5x14.5 rivets (areas I).
  25. Rivet strut (2) with Ø 6.5x12.5 rivets (areas H and H2 ).

    IMPORTANT Flow form rivets with a clamping range of 3.35 mm to 4.1 "S2" can be used, if a riveter for punching and flow form rivets is used for installation (area H2 ).
