Connection scheme
- Check whether the branch-off lines of the blue 2-pin plug (2.6) are longer than the branch-off lines of the black 2-pin plug (2.7).
If the branch-off lines of the blue 2-pin plug (2.6) are shorter
↓
Remove the blue 2-pin plug (2.6) and the black 2-pin plug (2.7) from the respective branch-off lines and mount the black 2-pin plug (2.7) to the shorter branch-off lines.
The black 2-pin plugs (2.7) should be installed on the shorter branch-off lines for further installation.
Observe contact cavity assignment.
-
- For previously-removed blue 2-pin plugs (2.6).
Cut off, insulate and strap down the longer branch-off lines.
- If the blue 2-pin plugs (2.6) were not removed.
Cut off, insulate and strap down the longer branch-off lines with the blue 2-pin plugs (2.6).
Routing diagram
The installation is shown on a left-hand drive vehicle, installation on right-hand drive vehicles is the same, but mirror inverted.
Do not damage the electrical wiring harnesses by squeezing or pinching them.
This can cause a short circuit in the electric circuit.
- For previously-removed blue 2-pin plugs (2.6).
- Place illuminated door sill molding wiring harness (2) into front passenger footwell.
- Attach black 18-pin plug (2.3) of illuminated door sill molding wiring harness (2) to illuminated door sill molding control unit (1).
- Route brown line (BN) to front passenger footwell frame floor assembly ground point (W85/2) and fix in place with cable ties.
A maximum of 5 ground connections may be connected, otherwise use other ground point.
- Connect brown line (BN) to front passenger footwell frame floor assembly ground point (W85/2)
.
- Route branch-off line with the black 2-pin plug (2.7) to installation location of the right front illuminated door sill molding.
Route branch-off line so that the black 2-pin plug (2.7) can be clipped in at a later stage at the specified cutout.
- Route left branch-off line (2.1) into driver footwell and fix in place with cable ties.
Use a pull-through device.
- Route left branch-off line (2.1) to A-pillar and fix in place using cable ties and felt tape.
- Route branch-off line with the black 2-pin plug (2.7) to installation location of the left front illuminated door sill molding.
Route branch-off line so that the black 2-pin plug (2.7) can be clipped in at a later stage at the specified cutout.
- Route twisted brown line (BN) and brown/red line (BN/RD) into passenger footwell in rear passenger compartment and fix in place using cable ties.
- Route red line (RD) with contact spring (2.5) to fuse and relay module on driver's side (K40/6) and fix in place with cable ties.
- Mount contact spring into slot of electrical fuse 210 (arrow) of fuse and relay module on the driver's side (K40/6).
The slot of the electrical fuse 210 (arrow) on the fuse and relay module on the driver's side (K40/6) is labeled.
- Insert a fuse with a fuse rating of 5 A into the slot for electrical fuse 210 (arrow).
- Compare contact cavity assignment of the black 2-pin plug sockets installed on the vehicle on the interior CAN potential distributor electrical connector (CAN B), left (X30/32) with the contact cavity assignment of the black 2-pin connector socket (2.4).
If the contact cavity assignment of the black 2-pin connector socket (2.4) is different
↓
Adapt contact cavity assignment of the black 2-pin connector socket (2.4).
- Mount black 2-pin connector socket (2.4) to any free slot on the electrical connection for potential distributor interior CAN (CAN B), cockpit (X30/32).
