The following steps are shown on the left side of the vehicle and must be performed analogously on the right side in the event of damage.
The superordinate service document as well as the safety information in the service document must be observed.
- Expose spot welds on inner side wall (1) (area A).
- Cut off spot welds on inner side wall (1) (area A).
- Drill off self-piercing rivets on inner side wall (1) with Ø 6 mm bit (area A1 ).
- Expose spot welds on inner side wall (1) (areas B).
- Cut off spot welds on inner side wall (1) (areas B).
- Drill off self-piercing rivets on inner side wall (1) with Ø 6 mm bit (area B1 ).
- Bend sheet metal lug (1A) in direction of arrow.
- Drill through clinch connections on inner side wall (1) with Ø 6 mm bit (area D).
- Expose spot welds on inner side wall (1) (areas E).
- Cut off spot welds on inner side wall (1) (areas E).
- Heat inner side wall (1) in crosshatched areas.
Cross-hatched areas are bonded with adhesive.
- Heat inner side wall (1) in crosshatched areas.
Cross-hatched areas are bonded with adhesive.
- Heat inner side wall (1) in crosshatched areas.
Cross-hatched areas are bonded with adhesive.
- Remove inner sidewall (1).
- Grind mating surfaces down to bare metal in cross-hatched areas.
Observe pretreatment of bonding surfaces.
- Unclip support (2).
- Grind mating surfaces down to bare metal in cross-hatched areas.
Observe pretreatment of bonding surfaces.
- Remove grinding dust and drill chips.
