The next steps are shown on the left side of the vehicle for model 223.1 and must be performed in the same way on the right side of the vehicle in the event of damage.
The superordinate service document as well as the safety information in the service document must be observed.
- Expose spot welds on inner side wall (1) and cut off (area A).
- Drill off self-piercing rivets on inner side wall (1) with Ø 6 mm bit (area B).
- Expose spot welds on inner side wall (1) and cut off (areas C).
- Drill off self-piercing rivets on inner side wall (1) with Ø 6 mm bit (area D).
- Bend open sheet metal lug in direction of arrow.
- Expose spot welds on inner side wall (1) and cut off (areas E).
- Drill out clinch connections on inner side wall (1) with Ø 6 mm bit (area F).
- Expose spot welds on inner side wall (1) and drill off with Ø 6.5 mm bit (area G).
- Heat inner side wall (1) in crosshatched areas.
Cross-hatched areas are bonded with adhesive.
- Heat inner side wall (1) in crosshatched areas.
Cross-hatched areas are bonded with adhesive.
- Heat inner side wall (1) in crosshatched areas.
Cross-hatched areas are bonded with adhesive.
- Remove inner sidewall (1).
- Grind mating surfaces down to bare metal in cross-hatched areas.
Observe pretreatment of bonding surfaces.
- Grind mating surfaces down to bare metal in cross-hatched areas.
Observe pretreatment of bonding surfaces.
- Remove grinding dust and drill chips.
