The following steps are shown on the left side of the vehicle and must be performed analogously on the right side in the event of damage.
The superordinate service document as well as the safety information in the service document must be observed.
- Expose spot welds on lock striker reinforcement (1) (areas A).
- Cut off spot welds on lock striker reinforcement (1) (areas A).
- Heat lock striker reinforcement (1) in cross-hatched areas.
Cross-hatched areas are bonded with adhesive.
- Remove lock striker reinforcement (1).
- Expose spot welds on reinforcement (2) and C-pillar (3) (areas B and B1 ).
- Cut off spot welds on reinforcement (2) and C-pillar (3) (areas B and B1
).
Joint spot welds on panels that are one behind the other must be cut out through two panel thicknesses.
- Heat reinforcement (2) and C-pillar (3) in cross-hatched areas.
Cross-hatched areas are bonded with adhesive.
- Expose spot welds on C-pillar (3) (areas C).
- Cut off spot welds on C-pillar (3) (areas C).
Joint spot welds on panels that are one behind the other must be cut out through two panel thicknesses.
- Press out self-piercing rivets on C-pillar (3) using rivet press tool (areas D).
- Heat reinforcement (2) and C-pillar (3) in cross-hatched areas.
Cross-hatched areas are bonded with adhesive.
- Remove reinforcement (2) and C-pillar (3).
- Grind mating surfaces down to bare metal in cross-hatched areas.
Grind mating surface on inside down to bare metal (area E).
Observe pretreatment of bonding surfaces.
- Remove grinding dust.
