The following steps are shown on model 223.1 on the left side of the vehicle and must be similarly performed on the right side of the vehicle in the event of damage.
The superordinate service document as well as the safety information in the service document must be observed.
- Expose self-piercing rivets on rear longitudinal member (1) and drill off with a ø 6 mm bit (areas A).
- Expose spot welds on rear longitudinal member (1) and cut off (areas B).
- Bend open sheet metal lug in direction of arrow.
- Expose spot welds on rear longitudinal member (1) and cut off (area C).
- Expose self-piercing rivets on rear longitudinal member (1) and drill off with a ø 6 mm bit (areas D).
- Expose spot welds on rear longitudinal member (1) and cut off (areas E).
- Expose self-piercing rivets on rear longitudinal member (1) and drill off with a ø 6 mm bit (area F).
- Press out self-piercing rivets on rear longitudinal member (1) using rivet press tool (area G).
- Expose self-piercing rivets on rear longitudinal member (1) and drill off with a ø 6 mm bit (area H).
- Expose screws (2) on rear longitudinal member (1) and remove.
- Heat rear longitudinal member (1) in crosshatched areas.
Cross-hatched areas are bonded with adhesive.
- Heat rear longitudinal member (1) in crosshatched areas.
Cross-hatched areas are bonded with adhesive.
- Heat rear longitudinal member (1) in cross-hatched area.
Cross-hatched area is bonded.
- Heat rear longitudinal member (1) in crosshatched areas.
Cross-hatched areas are bonded with adhesive.
- Remove rear longitudinal member (1).
- Grind mating surfaces down to bare metal in cross-hatched areas.
Observe pretreatment of bonding surfaces.
- Grind mating surfaces down to bare metal in cross-hatched areas.
Observe pretreatment of bonding surfaces.
- Remove grinding dust and drill chips.
