Rear Longitudinal Member Partial Removal - Ar64.20-P-1260-01S

The following operation steps are shown on model 223.1 on the left side of the vehicle and must be similarly performed on the right side of the vehicle in the event of damage.
The superordinate service document as well as the safety information in the service document must be observed.
- Expose spot welds at longitudinal member cover plate (2) and cut off (area A).
- Expose weld seams at longitudinal member cover plate (2) and cut (areas B).
- Remove screws (11) at longitudinal member cover plate (2).
- Heat longitudinal member cover plate (2) in cross-hatched areas.
Cross-hatched areas are bonded with adhesive.
- Remove longitudinal member cover plate (2).
- Remove screws (12) at rear longitudinal member (1).
- Heat rear longitudinal member (1) in crosshatched areas.
Cross-hatched areas are bonded with adhesive.
- Remove rear longitudinal member (1).
- Grind mating surfaces down to bare metal in cross-hatched areas.
Observe pretreatment of bonding surfaces.
- Grind mating surfaces down to bare metal in cross-hatched areas.
Observe pretreatment of bonding surfaces.
- Remove grinding dust.
