The next steps are shown on the left side of the vehicle for model 223.1 and must be performed in the same way on the right side of the vehicle in the event of damage.

The superordinate service document as well as the safety information in the service document must be observed.

The graphics show the vehicle from the mechanic's perspective. At the same time, this perspective also specifies the direction in which the rivets must be placed.

1. Install, fit and fix in place reinforcement (1).
2. Drill rivet holes in reinforcement (1) with Ø 6.7 mm (areas A, B, C).

   Drill rivet holes through existing holes in body (area B).

3. Countersink rivet holes (area B).
4. Drill holes for threaded connections in reinforcement (1) with Ø 6 mm (area D).
5. Remove reinforcement (1).
6. Deburr rivet holes and holes for threaded connections in reinforcement (1) and in the body on both sides.
7. Remove drill chips.
8. Insert support (2) with sealant.
9. Apply 2-component adhesive to body in cross-hatched areas.

10. Install reinforcement (1) and fix in place.
11. Rivet reinforcement (1) with Ø 6.4x19.0 countersunk-head rivet (area Z₄ ).
12. Rivet stiffener (1) with Ø 6.4 rivets (areas Y₅ ).
13. Insert M6x20 screws (3) with M6 flanged nuts (4) and tighten.
