The following operation steps are shown on model 223.1 on the left side of the vehicle and must be similarly performed on the right side of the vehicle in the event of damage.
The superordinate service document as well as the safety information in the service document must be observed.
- Mark separating points at longitudinal member front section (1) along the Y-markings and cut (areas A, B).
Do not make the cuts too deep.
Otherwise the components below can be damaged and weakened.
- Expose self-pierce rivets at longitudinal member front section (1) and drill off with Ø 6 mm (area C).
- Remove longitudinal member front section (1) together with reinforcement (3).
- Grind mating surfaces down to bare metal in cross-hatched areas.
Observe pretreatment of bonding surfaces.
- Remove grinding dust and drill chips.
