The following operation steps are shown on model 223.1 on the left side of the vehicle and must be similarly performed on the right side of the vehicle in the event of damage.

The superordinate service document as well as the safety information in the service document must be observed.

The diagrams show the vehicle from the perspective of the technician. At the same time, this view also specifies in what direction the rivets must be set.

1. Install outer rear wheel well (1) section, fit and fix in place.
2. Drill rivet holes in outer rear wheel well section (1) with Ø 6.7 mm (area A).
3. Remove outer rear wheel well section (1).
4. Deburr rivet holes on outer rear wheel well section (1) and body on both sides.
5. Remove drill chips.

6. Install suitable spacers on rear fender at uniform intervals (area B).
7. Apply sealant on rear fender and foam part (areas B, C).

8. Install outer rear wheel well (1) section, fit and fix in place.
9. Rivet outer rear wheel well section (1) with Ø 6.4x12.0 rivets (area Y₁ ).
