The next steps are shown on the left side of the vehicle for model 223.1 and must be performed in the same way on the right side of the vehicle in the event of damage.
The superordinate service document as well as the safety information in the service document must be observed.
The graphics show the vehicle from the mechanic's perspective. At the same time, this perspective also prescribes the direction in which the rivets must be set.
- Install rear outer wheel well (1) and fit.
- Install rear fender and fit.
- Install trunk lid.
- Install rear bumper.
- Install tail lamp.
- Install door seal.
- Install striker eye.
- Check gaps using
feeler gauge and adjust.
- Fix outer rear wheel well (1) in place.
- Remove striker eye.
- Remove door seal.
- Remove tail lamp.
- Remove rear bumper.
- Remove trunk lid.
- Remove rear fender.
- Drill rivet holes in outer rear wheel well (1) with Ø 6.7 mm (areas A).
- Drill holes for screws in outer rear wheel well (1) with Ø 6.5 mm (area B).
- Remove outer rear wheel well (1).
- Deburr rivet holes and holes for screws in outer rear wheel well (1) and the body on both sides.
- Remove drill chips.
- Apply 2-component adhesive to body in cross-hatched areas.
Observe pretreatment of bonding surfaces and manufacturer's specifications for drying and processing time of 2-component adhesive.
- Install outer rear wheel well (1) and fix in place.
- Rivet outer rear wheel well (1) with rivets Ø 6.5x12.5 (areas Y2 ).
- Rivet outer rear wheel well (1) with rivet Ø 6.5x14.5 (area Y3 ).
- Position screws (2).
Use M6x20 screws (2).
- Tighten nuts (3).
Use M6 nuts (3).
- Bend sheet metal lug closed in direction of arrow.
