General
The antennas may be located at different positions around the vehicle depending on the function and task involved.
Function
The antenna's connection to the respective control units, antenna splitters, amplifiers and receivers will vary depending on the function, equipment and body form.
Telephone, stationary heater and Remote Parking Package antennas connection
Antennas are integrated into roof antenna module (10). Depending on the vehicle equipment, the antenna connection may differ:
- Vehicles with code 899 (Wireless telephone charging at front and antenna) or with code 380 (Car telephony package) or with code B24 (Remote control for auxiliary heating) or with code 503 (Remote-controlled parking):
Directly to the mobile phone cradle control unit, to the telephone control unit, to the stationary heater radio remote control receiver or to the parking system control unit
- Vehicles with code 380 (Car telephony package) and with code 503 (Remote-controlled parking) or code B24 (Remote control for auxiliary heating):
To the telephone control unit and to the parking system control unit or to the stationary heater radio remote control receiver through the antenna changeover switch for telephony/stationary heater and Remote Parking Package (17)
- Vehicles with code 503 (Remote-controlled parking) and with code B24 (Remote control for auxiliary heating):
To the parking system control unit and to the stationary heater radio remote control receiver through the Remote Parking Package/stationary heater antenna splitter (20)
- Vehicles with code 380 (Car telephony package) and with code 503 (Remote-controlled parking) and with code B24 (Remote control for auxiliary heating):
Through the antenna changeover switch for telephony/stationary heater and Remote Parking Package (17) to the telephone control unit and to the Remote Parking Package/stationary heater antenna splitter (20) and from here on to the parking system control unit and to the stationary heater radio remote control receiver
- On vehicles with code 380 (Car telephony package) and with code 899 (Wireless telephone charging at front and antenna) the antenna signal is forwarded as requested over the telephone antenna changeover switch (18) to the telephone control unit or to the mobile phone cradle control unit.
On vehicles with code 899 (Wireless telephone charging at front and antenna), the antenna signal to the mobile phone cradle control unit is amplified by the cellular telephone system antenna amplifier/compensator (19).
Depending on the equipment installed, two antennas are located in the left and right outside mirrors for telephony in the rear passenger compartment.
Emergency call system antennas connection
- The 2 emergency call system antennas are directly connected to the telematics services control unit.
- If the vehicle is also equipped with code 380 (Auto-Telefonie Package) or with code 899 (Wireless telephone charging at front and antenna):
One of the antennas is also used for telephony via an antenna splitter integrated into the roof antenna module (10).
GPS antenna connection
Depending on the vehicle equipment, the following GPS antenna connections are possible:
- Vehicles with code 383 (RAMSES ENTRY communication module) or code 384 (RAMSES HIGH communication module) without
code 355 (Pre-installation for navigation retrofit):
Directly to the telematics services control unit
- Vehicles with code 383 (RAMSES ENTRY communication module) or code 384 (RAMSES HIGH communication module) with
code 355 (Pre-installation for navigation retrofit):
The GPS antenna signal is forwarded to the multimedia system by a GPS splitter integrated into the telematics services control unit.
- Vehicles without telematics services control unit, but with code 355 (Pre-installation for navigation retrofit):
Directly to multimedia system control
- Vehicles with code 200 (Conditionally automated driving):
Additionally via another antenna output directly to position determination control unit
Rear window antennas connection
The antennas in the rear window are connected via 2 antenna amplifiers:
- Left C-pillar antenna amplifier (21)
- Right C-pillar antenna amplifier (16)
