General
On vehicles with a head unit or a head unit/instrument cluster control unit, the multimedia system provides a variety of functions such as navigation, radio or telephony. The user can control these functions via a user interface.
In vehicles with a radio, the multimedia system is restricted to the radio and media mode.
Function requirements
- Circuit 30t on.
- Transport mode not active.
- System activation must have been performed.
- Anti-theft protection is deactivated.
- In electric vehicles: Range maximization is not activated for the interior function area.
- For off-road vehicles with stealth light: The stealth light is not switched on.
Function
Settings (off-road vehicle with radio)
The radio receives the following settings for the multimedia system from the instrument cluster:
- Display brightness and instrument lighting
- Time
Settings (cars)
The multimedia system makes it possible to adjust various multimedia system and vehicle settings. Adjustments can be made to the following systems:
- Multimedia system and instrument cluster (system settings, e.g. time, date, language, display style, WLAN, Bluetooth®...)
- Multimedia system control elements (e.g. touchpad sensitivity)
- Speaker system (sound settings)
- Vehicle (e.g. seat belt adjustment, acoustic locking verification, easy entry and exit feature...)
- Interior and exterior lighting
- Driver assistance system
- Seat comfort
- Climate control
- Voice control
User profiles (cars)
The user can create different profiles using the multimedia system in the vehicle. These make it possible to save and retrieve vehicle and multimedia system settings for different drivers.
Depending on the equipment installed, the multimedia system can save the settings of the following systems for each profile:
- Seats and mirrors
- Ambiance illumination
- Climate control
- Radio
- "Individual" transmission mode
- Multimedia system (display style, Themes, Suggestions and Favorites)
- Navigation (last destinations)
The following actions are available for User Profiles:
- Create, edit and delete profiles in the vehicle.
- Call up profiles in the vehicle.
- Edit and manage profiles in the Mercedes-Benz Customer Portal/in the Mercedes me App.
- Transfer profiles from one vehicle to another (via data export/import with USB or via the Mercedes-Benz Customer Portal/the Mercedes me App).
Depending on the equipment installed, the user profile can be activated through biometric user identification, (e.g. fingerprint sensor).
Themes (cars)
The multimedia system can save various vehicle settings as Themes. Themes make it possible to save and retrieve vehicle and multimedia system settings for certain driving situations.
A Theme contains the settings of the following systems:
- Instrument cluster
- Ambiance illumination
- Active audio source
- Main menu for multimedia system display
- Display style of multimedia system
- DYNAMIC SELECT drive program
- ECO start-stop setting
- Navigation settings
The following actions are available for Themes:
- Create
- Call up
- Edit
- Delete
Suggestions (cars)
For the Suggestions function, the multimedia system analyzes usage habits. Based on functions previously used, the multimedia system offers the most likely navigation destinations, media sources, radio stations or contacts.
The user can temporarily (24 h) deactivate this analysis of usage habits or erase the learned usage behavior entirely.
The multimedia system stores the usage behavior in the active User Profile.
In-Car Office (cars)
With the "In-Car Office" function, online services for office functions, e.g. Office 365, can be connected with the multimedia system. The connection is made via the customer's mobile phone.
The following functions are available:
- Display of events from the calendar
- Display of tasks and calls to do
- Display of emails and contacts
- Adopt the address of an event as a navigation destination
- Call telephone numbers from events
Notification Center (cars)
The Notification Center collects notifications from the multimedia system and telematics services and displays them. The Notification Center displays the following notifications in the multimedia system:
- Messages (SMS)
- Calendar entries and reminders, e.g. from "In-Car Office"
- System information, e.g. software update available
- Notifications from telematics services
- Navigation destinations or routes
Depending on the notification type, the following actions are possible:
- Read
- Call
- Reply
- Call a website
- Navigate
Function restriction through range maximization in electric vehicles (cars)
The range maximization function can be activated via a menu of the head unit. This means that the comfort systems that are not relevant to continuing, are switched off completely or partly and the ECO drive functions are switched on. Activation can take place global or for the individual function areas (climate control, interior, seat comfort, ECO drive functions) separately.
If the range maximization for the interior function area is activated, the following function restrictions occur in the multimedia system:
- The central display is switched off (with the exception of the climate control functions).
- Depending on the equipment installed, the front passenger display and the rear displays are switched off.
- Depending on the equipment installed, the inductive (wireless) charging is switched off. (Equipment connected via USB is still being charged.)
When one of the display is switched on, the restrictions for the entire interior function area are canceled.
