Location

The overhead control panel control unit is located in the front section of the roof lining.

The emergency call system button group (model 217.4 with code 351 (Emergency call system (HERMES))) is located between the overhead control panel control unit and the inside rearview mirror (A67) at the front on the roof lining.

Tasks

The overhead control panel control unit actuates the interior lighting. In addition, the control elements for various functions are located on the overhead control panel control unit.

Model 217.3, 222 up to model year 2018 with code 882 (Interior monitoring)

The overhead control panel control unit has the purpose of accommodating the ATA [EDW]/tow-away protection/interior protection control unit (N26/6).

Model 217.3, 222 as of model year 2018 with code 852 (Sensor system for anti-theft alarm system (ATA)) or code 882 (Interior monitoring)

The overhead control panel control unit monitors the vehicle interior by sending and receiving ultrasonic waves.

For this purpose, the following component parts are integrated into the overhead control panel control unit:

If the inclination sensor in the overhead control panel control unit senses an alarm-relevant inclination change, an alarm is output.

The overhead control panel control unit has the following tasks:

Reading in of signals

The overhead control panel control unit reads in the input factors through the following connections:

Direct line

The overhead control panel control unit reads in the signals of the following components via direct lines:

Roof LIN (up to model year 2018)

The overhead control panel control unit and the front SAM control unit (N10/6) communicate with one another via the roof LIN.

Alarm system LIN (with code 882 (Interior monitoring))

The overhead control panel control unit reads in the signals from the following component parts via the alarm system LIN:

Interior CAN (as of model year 2018)

The signals read in by the overhead control panel control unit via the interior CAN include the following:

Evaluation of input factors

The input factors are evaluated by the microprocessor of the overhead control panel control unit and the corresponding components are actuated.

Actuation of components

The actuation of the components takes place via the following connections:

Direct line

The overhead control panel control unit actuates the following components via direct lines:

Alarm system LIN (with code 882 (Interior monitoring))

The overhead control panel control unit actuates the alarm siren via the alarm system LIN.

Transmitting signals

The overhead control panel control unit sends different signals via the following connections:

Roof LIN (up to model year 2018)

The signals sent by the overhead control panel control unit via the roof LIN to the front SAM control unit include the following:

Interior CAN (as of model year 2018)

The signals sent by the overhead control panel control unit via the interior CAN include the following:
