Location 

The ambient lighting control unit is located below the driver's seat.

Task 

The ambient lighting control unit has the following tasks:

• Read in sensors and signals 
• Evaluation of input factors 
• Actuation of components 

Reading in of signals 

The signals read in by the ambient lighting control unit via the interior CAN include the following:

• Terminal status of terminal 15
• Engine running status
• Engine speed
• Terminal 58d
• Status of interior lighting control
• Ambient lighting color request
• Ambient lighting configuration request
• Ambient lighting brightness request
• Energy management status

Evaluation of input factors 

The input factors that have been read in are evaluated by the integrated microprocessor and the relevant components are then actuated.

Actuation of components 

The components are actuated via the following connections:

• Left front door ambient lighting LIN (LIN B30) 
• Right front door ambient lighting LIN (LIN B31) 
• Left rear door ambient lighting LIN (LIN B32) (model 222) 
• Right rear door ambient lighting LIN (LIN B33) (model 222) 
• Cockpit ambient lighting LIN (LIN B34) 
• Vehicle interior ambient lighting LIN (LIN B35) 
• Roof ambient lighting LIN (LIN B36) 

Left front door ambient lighting LIN 

The ambient lighting control unit actuates the following component parts via the left front door ambient lighting LIN:

• Left front door ambient lighting (E17/43)
• Left front door door handle ambient lighting (E17/55)
• Left front door door pocket lighting (E23/1)
• Left front door tweeter ambient lighting, mirror triangle (H4/23e1) (with code 811 (Advanced Sound System))

Right front door ambient lighting LIN 

The ambient lighting control unit actuates the following component parts via the right front door ambient lighting LIN:

• Right front door ambient lighting (E17/44)
• Right front door door handle ambient lighting (E17/56)
• Right front door door pocket lighting (E23/2)
• Right front door tweeter ambient lighting, mirror triangle (H4/24e1) (with code 811 (Advanced Sound System))

Left rear door ambient lighting LIN (model 222) 

The ambient lighting control unit actuates the following component parts via the left rear door ambient lighting LIN:

• Left rear door ambient lighting (E17/45)
• Left rear door door handle ambient lighting (E17/57)

Right rear door ambient lighting LIN (model 222)

The ambient lighting control unit actuates the following component parts via the cockpit ambient lighting LIN:

• Driver ambient lighting (E43/18)
• Front passenger interior ambient lighting (E43/19)
• Front passenger exterior ambient lighting (E43/20)
• Upper Audio/COMAND display ambient lighting (E43/49)
• Lower Audio/COMAND display ambient lighting (E43/50)

Vehicle interior ambient lighting LIN 

The ambient lighting control unit actuates the following component parts via the vehicle interior ambient lighting LIN:

• Rear center console stowage compartment ambient lighting (E13/4) (model 222 with code 223 (Electrically adjustable rear bench seat))
• Right front footwell lamp (E17/15)
