1	Assess bake lining thickness (1) of brake linings at front axle	If necessary, use a flashlight (2) or a mirror (3). The thickness of the pad backing plate can be used as a reference when assessing the brake lining thickness (1). 3	Determine likely remaining distance of brake linings	If the wear limit for the brake linings is reached, replace the brake linings subject to a separate repair order. Otherwise the braking effect may be impaired and people, property and environmental damage may result. To determine the prospective remaining distance for each axle, refer to the Brake pad with the least Brake pad thickness (1). In order to avoid an unscheduled workshop visit between services, determine the remaining distance of the present brake pads. If the remaining distance determined is less than the next service interval, advise the customer to replaced the brake pads before the due service date.	AP42.10-P-4253-03EW
