Preparing Complete A-Pillar For Installation - Ar63.20-P-1100-09LCA

The following steps are shown on the left side of the vehicle and must be performed in the same way on the right side in the event of damage.
- Grind mating surfaces on A-pillar paneling (1) down to bare metal in crosshatched areas.
Sand down spot weld flanges to bare metal on both sides.
- Remove grinding dust.
- Coat spot weld flanges with zinc dust paint.
Do not coat bonding surfaces with zinc dust paint (area N1 ).
Otherwise adhesion problems may occur.
Observe pretreatment of bonding surfaces.
- Mark separating point on A-pillar reinforcement (3) and cut (area O).
Transfer separation point from vehicle.
- Grind mating surfaces on A-pillar reinforcement (3) down to bare metal in cross-hatched areas.
Sand down spot weld flanges to bare metal on both sides.
- Remove grinding dust and drill chips.
- Coat insides of spot weld flanges with zinc dust paint.
Do not coat bonding surfaces with zinc dust paint (areas N2 , N3 and N 4 ).
Otherwise adhesion problems may occur.
Observe pretreatment of bonding surfaces.
- Mark separating point on offset reinforcement and cut (area P1
).
Transfer separation point from vehicle.
- Mark separating points on A-pillar inner panel (4) and cut (area P2
).
Transfer separation points from vehicle.
- Grind mating surfaces on A-pillar inner panel (4) down to bare metal in crosshatched areas.
Sand down spot weld flanges to bare metal on both sides.
- Remove grinding dust and drill chips.
- Coat insides of spot weld flanges with zinc dust paint.
Do not coat adhesive surfaces with zinc dust paint (areas R1 , R2 , R3 , R4 and R5 ).
Otherwise adhesion problems may occur.
Observe pretreatment of bonding surfaces.
- Fabricate duplicator (8) from A-pillar inner panel remaining piece (4).
Dimensions:
n = approx. 120 mm
- Cut duplicator (8) in center (area M).
- Grind insides of duplicator half down to bare metal.
- Remove grinding dust.
- Grind mating surfaces on new mounting console (2) down to bare metal in crosshatched areas.
Sand down spot weld flanges to bare metal on both sides.
- Repair bare parts with touchup applicator.
- Remove grinding dust and drill chips.
- Coat insides of spot weld flanges with zinc dust paint.
Do not coat bonding surfaces with zinc dust paint (areas C1 ).
Otherwise adhesion problems may occur.
Observe pretreatment of bonding surfaces.
Sand down hard solder flanges to bare metal on both sides (areas C2 ).
- Sand down mating surfaces on stiffening plate (7) to bare metal in cross-hatched areas.
Sand down spot weld flanges to bare metal on both sides.
- Remove grinding dust and drill chips.
- Repair bare parts with touchup applicator.
- Coat insides of spot weld flanges with zinc dust paint.
