Partially Remove Upper Front Longitudinal Member - Ar62.20-P-1287-01LF

MODEL 217, 222 

IMPORTANT The following steps are shown on the left side of the vehicle and must be accomplished analogously on the right side in the event of damage.

  1. Expose self-piercing rivets on strut (2) and rivet with Ø 6 mm bit (area A).

    IMPORTANT The self-piercing rivets can also be separated with a riveter for self-piercing and flow-form rivets.

  2. Unscrew bolts (3) from strut (2).
  3. Heat strut (2) in crosshatched areas.

    IMPORTANT Cross-hatched areas are bonded.

  4. Remove strut (2).

  5. Expose self-piercing rivet on upper front longitudinal member (1) with Ø 6 mm bit (areas B1 , B 2 , B3 and C).

    IMPORTANT The self-piercing rivets can also be cut with a riveter for self-piercing and flow-form rivets (area B1 and B2 ).

  6. Unscrew bolts (3) from upper front longitudinal member (1).
  7. Heat upper front longitudinal member (1) in crosshatched areas.

    IMPORTANT Cross-hatched areas are bonded.

  8. Grind mating surfaces down to bare metal in the cross-hatched inner C-pillar sidewall.

    IMPORTANT Observe pretreatment of bonding surfaces. Grind mating surface down to bare metal on inside (area D).
