Location 

The A/C control unit is located on the front side of the A/C housing on the passenger side.

Task 

The A/C control unit is responsible for the following tasks:

• Read in sensors and signals 
• Evaluation of input factors 
• Actuation of components 
• Transmitting signals

The input factors are read in via the following connections:

• Direct line 
• Climate control LIN 2 (LIN B8-2) 
• Air conditioning control LIN 3 (LIN B8-4) (with code 1U6 (Refrigerant R744)) 
• A/C operating unit LIN (LIN B8-3) 
• Interior CAN (CAN B) 

Direct line 

The climate control control unit reads in the signals from the following components via direct lines:

• Evaporator temperature sensor (B10/6)
• Left rear air conditioning system heat exchanger temperature sensor (B10/9) (model 222 with code 582 (A/C system in rear))
• Right rear air conditioning system heat exchanger temperature sensor (B10/10) (model 222 with code 582 (A/C system in rear))
• Rear air conditioning system evaporator temperature sensor (B10/11) (model 222 with code 582 (A/C system in rear))
• Left side air vent air outlet temperature sensor (B10/31)
• Right side air vent air outlet temperature sensor (B10/32)
• Left footwell vent air outlet temperature sensor (B10/35)
• Right footwell vent air outlet temperature sensor (B10/36)
• Refrigerant pressure sensor (B12) (except code 1U6 (Refrigerant R744))
• CO₂ pressure/temperature sensor downstream of gas cooler (B12/4) (with code 1U6 (Refrigerant R744))

Air conditioning control LIN 3 (with code 1U6 (Refrigerant R744)) 

The climate control control unit reads in the signals from the following component parts via the air conditioning control LIN 3:

• CO₂ sensor (B98)
• Rear CO₂ sensor (B98/1) (model 222 with code 582 (Rear air conditioning system))

AC operation LIN 

The climate control control unit reads in the signals from the following components via the climate control LIN:

• Stationary heater radio remote control receiver (A6/1) (model 217.3, 222 as of model year 2018 with code 228 (Stationary heater))
• Rear A/C system operating unit (N22/4) (model 222 with code 582 (A/C system in rear))
• Climate control operating unit (N58/1)

Interior CAN 

The climate control control unit receives the following information via the interior CAN, among others:

Evaluation of input factors 

The input factors that have been read in are evaluated by the integrated microprocessor and the affected components are then actuated.
