General
The crossing traffic warning system warns the driver and brakes the vehicle in hazardous situations with crossing traffic when reversing out of a parking space (also when driving out of a parking space as of market launch model 223).
The maneuvering assistant is operated using the multimedia system.
Function requirements
- Terminal 15 ON
- Blind Spot Monitoring switched on
- Parking Assist switched on
- Vehicle reverses at walking speed (or drives forward - as of market launch model 223)
- No trailer operation (vehicles with trailer hitch)
- No incline
Function
When exiting a parking space, the radar sensors in the bumper monitor the traffic area adjacent to the vehicle. In imminent collision situations, a symbol appears in the multimedia display. A warning tone can also be issued. If the warning is not followed by a reaction from the driver, the vehicle is braked automatically.
The cross traffic warning system is active at a speed of 0 to 10 km/h.
Functional restrictions
The crossing traffic warning system may also be impaired:
- If the radar sensors are badly soiled
- Through insufficient (poor) detection for angle parking
- When covered up by other vehicles
