Front CROSSMEMBER Below Front Seat Partial Removal - Ar63.40-P-1189-05S

Model 223.0/1/9 

IMPORTANT The next steps are shown on the left side of the vehicle for model 223.1 and must be performed in the same way on the right side of the vehicle in the event of damage.

The superordinate service document as well as the safety information in the service document must be observed.

  1. Expose spot welds on front crossmember (1) and cut out (areas A).
  2. Expose spot welds on front crossmember (1) and drill out with Ø 6.5 mm (areas B).
  3. Expose screws (2) on front crossmember (1) and remove.

  4. Heat front crossmember (1) in cross-hatched areas.

    IMPORTANT Cross-hatched areas are bonded with adhesive.

  5. Remove front crossmember (1).

  6. Grind mating surfaces down to bare metal in cross-hatched areas.

    IMPORTANT Grind mating surfaces on the inside down to bare metal (areas C).

    Grind mating surface on the underside down to bare metal (area D).

    Observe pretreatment of bonding surfaces.

  7. Remove grinding dust and drill chips.
